Cute Stuff!

Received some lovely gifts from my colleagues; aren't they soooo cute? :D

Some of us could not agree whether the small blue one is an elephant or a mouse. I thought it's quite obvious it is an elephant! How could it be a mouse?? Hehe ^_^

Anyway, did I mention the two tiny ones are magnets? There are little magnets on the feet, hands and right in the middle of their tummies, which enables them to perform various stunts....

Help! We need the loo!!!

Foodbyes :)

Don't like Goodbyes, so we had some 'Foodbyes' instead :D

We started off with a lunch buffet at Halia, located at the Sime Darby Convention Centre.

Piled my plate high with food; think the nicest item on this plate was the beef rendang (that brown chunk of meat in the centre)...

Of course I didn't just go for one round- who does that at a buffet!?! Heh. Anyway, shall skip all the other rounds and go straight to dessert. The cheesecake was nice but the bread & butter pudding was too 'custardy' for my liking. Somehow it lacked the 'bite' that I like when savouring the layers of soft bread. That thing that looks like it has a grape on top- well the best way I can think of to describe it would be 'an inverted kuih koci'. Haha :)

More food followed back at the office later... all this at tea-time!

Mini Thai Fair, Hartamas Shopping Centre

Heard that the Thai Fair was back in Hartamas Shopping Centre so we decided to pop by for a quick bite one evening.

Hubby had the Tom Yam; at RM 5 with that amount of seafood, I didn't think it was too bad. I counted 3 prawns! :D

I opted for the Thai Laksa (also RM 5) and I thought it was really quite good. And I'm not even a laksa fan!

The mangoes and the mounds of green and white sticky rice gave us....

San Francisco Steakhouse, KLCC

Hubby and family took dear mother-in-law out for lunch on Mother's Day. After much thought and debate, everyone finally settled on San Francisco Steakhouse, since mother-in-law likes a good steak :)

Personally, I'm not a big fan of red meat, so whilst everyone else was either opting for the cow or the lamb, I went for a pasta (Sicilian Marinara) instead. Now I have this habit of removing all the clams, mussels etc etc from their shells first, so that I can savour the meal without stopping to wrestle with some annoying mollusc mid-way through the meal. Anyway, I was happily doing the usual until I stumbled upon a very very grey clam. I looked closely and discovered that the entire clam was filled with mud!! Ewwww- I sent the pasta back to the kitchen. :p

I did get a new batch of pasta (well it looked new anyway); but I think next time I'll eat steak in a steakhouse...

A Doggy-themed Wedding!

Attended a cute doggy-themed wedding on Saturday; check out the fun we had with the stuffed dog placed at the dinner table! :D

Las Carretas Damansara, Semantan Avenue

'Foodie' boss decided to take us out to lunch at Las Carretas Damansara, taking advantage of the 2-hr Friday lunch break. It's been a while since I last dined at Las Carretas (have only ever tried the food at the Ampang branch); so I certainly didn't mind!

We tried the Poppers- deep fried battered jalapenos stuffed with four types of cheese. Fortunately it wasn't too spicy (a tummyache would have been inconvenient, to say the least) :p

I had a Burrito Del Mar- a rolled warm flour tortilla filled with seafood. It had lots of cheese inside; halfway through I was stuffed! All in all, a really satisfying main course.

For dessert we tried the Deep Fried Mexican Ice-Cream. We expected it to be in the form of ice-cream balls, but they were more of ice-cream discs, heh. It still tasted good; although more ice-cream would have been better! :D

Thursday Night Market, Plaza Mont Kiara

It had been a while since we went to this night market, and so we decided to grab dinner there one fine evening. Off we went to Plaza Mont Kiara, parked in the underground basement and walked up the stairs only to find this...

Scaffolding? What happened to the market?

Surely they cannot be building another block right in the middle of the courtyard? Yes, we know buildings and condominimums are popping up like mushrooms on every square foot of Mont Kiara... but surely this is ridiculous. O_o

Upon closer inspection of the scaffolding, we realised that these were just enhancement plans for Plaza Mont Kiara. The previous fountain in the middle of the courtyard is supposed to be replaced by this-

Looks interesting. Hmm, are those people wading in the fountain? Guess we shall have to wait and see :)

Ah ha- so THIS is where the night market has gone! :D

We turned the corner, and there it was... The original layout was much better of course, but the same stalls still seem to be open. No complaints there!

Durian Cravings

Both of us have had a craving for durians for the longest time now. We'd drive past the durian stall on the way home, catch a whiff of the lovely fragrance, contemplate making a u-turn back to the stall... but end up deciding against it in the end. Too many calories! Too heaty! The 'excuses' managed to keep us from succumbing to the cravings; for a while at least....

We lost the battle one day at Jusco (of all places), where the sight of durian packed neatly into boxes was just too much for us. We know, we know- where's the fun in eating durian like that? What to do- our cravings needed to be put to a stop!! :p

Was it nice? Can't even remember now. But at the moment, at least we've stopped talking about eating durians! :D

Dinner at Chili's

Mum and Moonie were up in KL last week and we ended up having dinner at Chili's on Saturday. Dining at Chili's is always fun, though from experience it doesn't seem like all the Chili's outlets are created equal... :p We went (as usual) to the outlet in Bangsar Shopping Centre- no complaints so far!

Shared 3 items between the 4 of us; which were more than enough. Kicked off with the Triple Play; love this starter- especially the dips. This is the only time I don't mind eating celery!

Mum wanted the Citrus Fire Chicken & Prawns; and all because of? The rice. ??? Sounds like the latest KFC 'We Must Have Rice' advertisement, heh :D Yup, I guess she's a bit of a 'fan tong'.

We decided to try their new filling for the fajitas- Steak and Portobello, which came with a lovely chimichurri sauce. Moonie and I could not figure out what the sauce was made of, and asking the waitress wasn't much help either. Anyway, I found it on the internet.

Dancing Shakespeare

Moonie brought this back for us from her lovely loooong holiday in England, Scotland and Wales. Cute huh- all the limbs are adjustable. So cool to have a 'dancing' Shakespeare on my fridge door! :D
