Happy 7th birthday to our little girl!

In a blink of an eye, our little is now 7 years old! How time has flown by. Sigh.

Just sharing a photo of a mini treasure hunt we did for the kids at home- simple but fun! Haha 😊

Celebrating our little girl's 6th birthday!

So we decided to throw a surprise birthday party for our little girl at her kindergarten. Logistics was tricky, as the school was undergoing major renovation and we had quite a lot of stuff to lug up 2 flights of stairs!

She is mad about My Little Pony and so we had that as a 'theme' for the celebration. The look on her face when she showed up was absolutely priceless. She was so happy! Made all that stressful planning worthwhile :)

Happy 6th birthday my little sunshine! May you sparkle with joy always!

Ordered some cupcakes online- the taste was ok but they didn't look great.
In fact, the ones with the pony were quite ugly... Hmm.

AIA Vitality Launch!

Finally- launching AIA Vitality after years of hard work! The event was really successful- energetic, fresh and fun. I absolutely loved the colours that were on display that day!

We had juice bikes and a wind chamber to draw prizes- which provided a lot of fun for the guests. Here's to the birth of AIA Vitality in Malaysia! I was so happy I almost cried tears of joy.. *sniff*

Even my nails are ready for the big day!

Isn't this just awesome?

Beautiful venue- perfect for AIA Vitality

Celebrating Mum & Dad's 40th Wedding Anniversary!

40 years! I knew I had to do something special. I hatched a plan and planned a surprise dinner for them- pulling together some other family members living in KL.

That wasn't even the hardest part. The hardest part was making a photobook with stories and photos contributed from friends and family- now that was really challenging. Even some family members *scowl* were not cooperative, so that was really annoying as well.

Seeing the look on their faces that day really made it all worthwhile. Everyone had fun; and there was lots of laughter and good cheer.

Happy Ruby Anniversary- Mummy and Daddy! Love you loads.... and thank you.. for EVERYTHING.

No photos of the event, except for a photo of this very delicious salad. Haha!

Little girl turns FIVE!

The little girl turned 5 recently, and we threw her a Frozen-themed party, as you can see below. Thank God for the internet- it is amazing how creative people are! I had a lot of fun preparing these (although it was SUPER HARD WORK)....

We MADE this Olaf pinata okayyyyy.... Haha! I also bought gloves, filled them with water, dropped some beads in, and froze them. Elsa's frozen hands! The kids could chip away / melt the frozen hand to extract the beads, and thread them together to make a bracelet. Pretty cool idea, huh? Too bad I didn't take some good photos of the frozen hands.. Duh!

All in all, a great party! Happy 5th birthday to our little princess!

Dinosaur party!

The little boy is crazy about dinosaurs; so a dinosaur-themed party seemed appropriate to celebrate his 6th birthday!

It was a lot of work planning for the party; but it was a lot of fun as well. Thank God for the internet- which makes we wonder how we got anything done in the past! It's amazing how creative some people are. I especially liked the cute names for the food- like Dino Eggs, Dino-mite Sticks and Dino Bones!

One cool idea I found on the internet was this- freezing little plastic dinosaurs in water-filled balloons, and getting the kids to 'excavate' the dinosaurs by melting or hacking away at the ice. We used little tools like plastic screws and hammers (from their toy toolbox) and used plastic scoops and syringes to take in water to melt the ice. Overall it was a messy affair, but it was pretty entertaining to watch. I think the parents might have had more fun that the kids! Haha!

Happy 6th birthday, my darling!

An awesome racing car party!

So the boy is REALLY into cars. It seemed like a good idea to throw a theme party- so I did heaps of research and decided to DIY. It was a lot of planning and work - stressful, but the kids had a really good time.

Here are some photos of the snacks done according to the theme- quite fun to come up with!

Hubby made an awesome race track/ramp and we gave each child a plastic car to 'race'. A simple idea, but one which was a great hit with the kids! They really enjoyed it :)

And oh, check out the cool cake- made by my friend, Sugar Art Diva! Cool, eh!

Happy 5th birthday to my little boy! May God bless you always!

Penang Trip - April 2013

We made a trip to Penang to coincide with our little boy's 4th birthday, and we had a really great time! We didn't get to eat much authentic Penang street fare- but we did get to do some touristy stuff like checking out the street art and going to see Kek Lok Si. We stayed at the Golden Sands Resort- which was really family friendly- I loved the shaded paddling pool, The hotel surprised us with a complimentary birthday cake- delivered to our room, so that was a nice touch. :)

Right after we checked in, we watched a snake charmer in action; he was kind of scary to watch. I couldn't bring myself to touch the snake's skin in the end; I tried, but couldn't! :p

We had dinner with my dear secondary school friend who has been living in Penang for quite some time now, and met her little girl for the first time. Dinner was at a yummy seafood restaurant near our hotel, with a lovely view of the beach.

Our trip to Kek Lok Si was quite interesting as well- there is a new bronze statue and a (really) short funicular railway 'ride'. One sad thing though- the turtle pond looked awfully dilapidated. I wanted to let the kids have the same experience I had feeding the turtles- they still had fun I think- but it was dreadful seeing the condition that the turtles were living in. :(

Goodbye Penang- we will surely see you again!

Beautiful!

Our little girl turns TWO!

Where did all the time go? Our little girl is TWO already!

She's a really bright little girl- she knows the alphabet and numbers 1-10 (truth be told, I can't recall when exactly that happened). Guess children really do absorb information and knowledge like sponges! Oh, and Grandpa's iPad helps too! :p

She got loads of wonderful presents from the family- I hope she knows how loved and blessed she is! Dear God, please watch over our sweet little girl, and shower her with Your blessings always...

Happy 3rd birthday to our little boy!

In a blink of an eye, our little boy is 3 years old already! Sniff. Time really flies. People tell me to cherish the precious moments now, because they fly by all too quickly. I know, things can get tough sometimes- toddler tantrums, potty training, etc. But I am fully aware that I will miss this when the kids get older. Talk about premature empty nest syndrome!

Happy birthday, my darling little boy. May the Lord watch over you and bless you always. Mummy loves you very very much, and always will!

This was supposed to be Elmo, but I think it looks like Telly!

Trip to Kuantan- Day 3

Our 3rd day in Kuantan was also my birthday, and it was nice celebrating it while on holiday. We had breakfast at the famous Restoran Hoi Yin just outside the hotel- the curry laksa was really delicious! After that we went to a shopping mall to hang out for a bit; although there wasn't that much to see.

We had dinner at the hotel's Italian Bistro, since that was more convenient. I can't remember exactly how the food tasted, mainly because I had to wolf it down (that's always the case when we dine with the kids), although I did recall my main course was a little on the salty side. The soup, which I ordered for the kids, was actually quite nice, but it was difficult to get No.1 to eat it because it had all kinds of bits inside (which is a no-no for him).

I also received a lovely surprise from Hyatt Kuantan. What happened was this- earlier on when I was still planning this trip, my friend (who has business dealings with the hotel) put me in touch with Diana- the Marketing Communication Manager, to see if she could offer special rates for my room booking. I recall mentioning to her that I would be celebrating my birthday during my stay at the hotel. In the end, it turned out that the rates offered were the same as what I could get online, so in the end I made my booking directly with the Reservations person that she linked me up with, instead of going through her (Diana is based in KL, by the way).

And guess what- Diana actually remembered that it was my birthday- she sent me an sms wishing me happy birthday, and presented me with a yummy birthday cake, with compliments from the hotel! What a lovely touch. I was most impressed by this wonderful display of hospitality. The funny thing was nobody mentioned the huge box sitting on the table; and it was only later at dinner when everyone started asking each other- 'Did you see that big box in the room? What was that? Did you buy a cake? No, did you?' Hubby went back to the room to check, and found out that it was a cake indeed! Hilarious.

There were 3 guys seated at the next table, and they presented me with a 'gift' as well. One of them asked the kitchen for some oranges, and proceeded to perform a juggling act! He was actually really good as well, haha!

What a memorable birthday indeed! :)

Celebrating hubby's birthday!

We celebrated hubby's birthday this year at Monte's, BSC. Time really flies! Birthdays always seem to arrive so quickly. What, another year gone already?

Yummy pasta...

Happy birthday to my dearest hubby! You're absolutely the best!

5th Wedding Anniversary!

We celebrated our 5th wedding anniversary recently; time flies- 5 years already! We took the day off to spend some time hanging out- just the 2 of us. I was very excited at the thought of our outing and spent ages planning what to do that day, as well as how to use some of the vouchers that I purchased online! Haha.

Hubby got me these- I love the perfume, and isn't the bottle just too cute? He sent the flowers to my office the day before our anniversary, so that was a sweet gesture. :)

We started the day with breakfast at Jalan Imbi- yummy bak kut teh! We were sooo stuffed after that though. We then went to Pavilion to do some shopping before heading off to catch a movie. I was so disappointed that there weren't any shows that we really wanted to watch, so we ended up just choosing something that hopefully wouldn't be too bad. And so.. we watched Petaling Street Warriors. Hmmm. I certainly wouldn't watch that again. :p

Next up was a late lunch at Tenjin, Grand Millennium hotel, where we used the Groupon I purchased. The food was really delicious. The sashimi was very fresh, and even the simple green tea ice-cream was superb! I would certainly not hesitate returning to Tenjin to dine.

We had a spa appointment at Solaris Dutamas next; again, we made use of some vouchers. Hehe. Overall the experience was quite ok; although I probably wouldn't go for a body mask again- it just feels too sticky and uncomfortable. We were pressured to sign up for a package after we were done, but we managed to 'escape' in the end, so that was ok.

For dinner, we initially considered trying out a luxurious degustation menu at Millesime, but since it would probably take too much time, plus we weren't sure if Chef Max Chin would be cooking, so in the end we just ended up having a simple and quick dinner at OverTime. Hardly romantic, and the food was so-so, but we were quite tired and my tummy wasn't feeling 100%, so I guess it was the best choice.

A rare day out just by ourselves!

Thank you dear God for 5 wonderful years together; and we humbly ask that you grant us many many more blessed years of walking with each other, and with You. Amen.
